Cots, they are one of the very first pieces of furniture parents buy when expecting. When purchasing, it is important to buy something that suits your future baby’s needs, your beliefs about parenting, your budget and of course to compliment the nursery design you want to create for your baby. There are so many beautiful innovate designs these days and we were extremely lucky to test drive the stunning Kaylula Sova 5 in 1 clear-view cot by BABYHOOD AUSTRALIA.
Easy to assemble and not overly bulky in size due to the circular (bassinet) and oval design (cot), this exquisite piece of furniture is an absolute jaw dropper and I love how it grows with bub from newborn to toddler and beyond.
The five in one comprises of –
- Bassinet with adjustable mattress base height
- Cot – again adjustable mattress base height
- Toddler bed
- Table and Chairs (this is where the five comes from – table AND chairs)
One of the most striking features about this design aesthetic is the use of clear panels offset against the more traditional wooden material. This innovative design concept enables parents to easily see their bubs without the need to peak over to get a really good view on how bub is sleeping. Annnd, bub can find comfort in their surrounds while drifting off to sleep as their view is not obstructed by bars.
Thanks to my little room hopper, it didn’t take long to find out how easy the Kaylula Sova was to move due to the easy gliding castors which lock in and out of place. This is where the size was a bonus. Indi’s other cot was just a fraction too large to easily move through door frames and in the times when we did need to move her cot from one room to another, it required a whole lot of disassembling and reassembling! When moving the KAYLULA cot from one room to another, the size was nothing short of perfect!
Apart from the clear view design, this functional design aspect of ‘movability’ would have to be one of my favourite features. Regardless of configuration I know that if illness or night-time monsters strike, I can easily move the Kaylula Sova in and out of any room with ease as it fits perfectly through standard door openings!
Now I haven’t used ours for this reason as Indi is a little old, but I think it would also make a wonderful little play pen as it is soooo easy to move around the house. The only thing this cot does not have is a drop down side, but as a mother of four, I do not see this as an issue as I rarely used this feature for my other children and found that when I did they would often get ‘stuck’ anyway.
Although Indi is not the best sleeper – (no sleep tips here unfortunately) I have been really surprised as to how she wants to ‘go to sleep’ in here of a night. I think it may be the fact that she can see out of the cot combined with the womb like encompassing circular design.
Even when she was in Ocea’s room, Indi, for the first time EVER went to sleep happily! No hand holding, no cries or vomiting!
For now, my little Indi is happy sleeping in her Kaylula cot, even if it is hanging out in our room. I have taken a few pics in the different configurations (in the girl’s room) to show you how this incredible cot can grow with your baby, from newborn to toddler and beyond. We are not quite at the toddler bed or ‘table and chairs’ stage yet, but when we do get there I know it will be in style!
PLEASE NOTE: In the toddler bed version the supporting brackets are visible and may require a basic cover of some kind if you consider this an issue.
It is no wonder that this cot won bronze in the 2015 Australian mother and baby awards! As for the oak version, it will have all the scandi lovers like OMG!!! I highly recommend you check it out for yourselves HERE!
Thanks for stopping by,

Hi Ness,
I so adore your bright & cheery pictures! Where is the multi coloured triangular/diamond rug from in the first picture?
Hi Rossa, This rug was from Target Australia – adds such a great pop of colour! X
Can you tell me what is rpthe bassinet mattress diameter ?
Thanks!
Hi rachel, sorry I don’t know the actual measurements as I no longer have the bassinet – if you get in touch with the supplier they may be able to help you.
