How a $40 Gumtree find changed an entire space!
Of course I LOOOVE all things designer, but reality check is, the money tree out the back looks pretty wilted at times. So to keep my kids spaces (and my own) new and fresh, I need to be creative.
This is where my love affair with finding thrifted or unloved furniture that I can upcycle kicks in. Sooo, when I found a beautiful antique bed frame in need of a new home for only $40 on the weekend, well I just couldn’t resist!
Once I got the okay from Ocea (we have been working TOGETHER this time to create a space SHE loves – not just me) we sold her old bed (keeping the mattress), picked up the new frame and set off to revamp once again.
We tossed and turned about whether or not to paint it – but for now the white is clean, bright and fresh.
We redid the ikea-hack drawer unit once again for a more softer muted colour palette (well, at least for the drawers). Colours were chosen by Ocea and I must say, I think she NAILED it!
We also gave a cute little curb side find, (above) in the way of a vintage French side table, a quick encounter with a can of spray paint.
So for a total of $40 plus a few cans of spray paint – her entire room was once again revamped. ANNND, we have a bit of leftover cash for some future sprucing thanks to the reselling her old bed frame.
But before I leave – one quick question, bed frame – leave it white or spray?
Would love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks for stopping by!

Spray it pink 😉
Pink! Sooo very tempting, love your choice ?
Where do you get the dolls on her bed and all her little plushies and pillows??? I love them.
Hi Hayley, the swan and ‘bunny’ dolls are from a store called “Dear Friend“. The unicorn is from Handmade Heart Shop, there is a blog post about it here’Handmade Heartshop’. Others are from different places, like kmart etc. Hope that helps X
