IKEA hack – DIY time!

I love revamping my kid’s spaces and but having four children means I need to be creative when updating on a budget. Here I created a modern furniture look for less by doing this simple IKEA hack using an IKEA TRAVA chest of drawers (which retail for only $129 au)!

When assembling the unit, leave out the drawer handles and use the pre-drilled holes (where the draw handles would be placed)  to cut a circular hole through the drawer frames. This features adds a modern touch and gives the drawers a designer edge but is totally optional if you are not confident with power tools.

Before painting, ensure the drawers are free of any dust then paint as desired to compliment your existing decor. I prefer to use spray paint as it is quick drying, easy to apply and I LOVE the colour selections available.

My favourite types of spray paints to use are either Montana colours (Montana Hardcore range is pictured above) or Iron Lack range.

For an alternative look, use masking tape to section off segments of the drawers and spray or paint as desired.
